Hey there all you people who are looking for ways to save money or reduce your expenses, you have to consider this…
Have you ever wondered if you were spending way too much at the dry Cleaners? Well, these companies are really making a fortune with your laundry because you have to keep going back….UGHHH!
I share this story with all my dear friends. One day I was packing up all of my clothes getting ready to move to a new house and I thought it would be a good time to send all my dry clean clothes to the cleaners so that everything would be fresh in my new closet. So I went all out and dropped off 2 bags worth of items to be cleaned. That bag was full of; suits, slacks, skirts, cotton shirts – you name it! If it said “dry clean only” it went in the bag.
The next week I got all settled into my new house so went to get my things from the cleaners. However I was devastated when the guy handed me the receipt and said, “that will be $538.00″. I couldn’t believe it; I thought it was a joke! Nevertheless I paid the bill, and took the hit. It was the first time I had seen all of my dry clean clothes on one tab and I had to figure out a way to lower this expense because the economy wasn’t getting any better.
Then I started using the additional features on my washer machine – and you’d be surprised to find out that there are a few other cool settings!
If you have the “Hand Washable or Delicate” feature you gotta use it!! I now wash all of my “dryclean only” clothes with these settings and my clothes are fresher and cleaner! And I have reduced my dry cleaning expense from my personal budget.
It’s great I am saving so much money and have been able to focus my finances in other areas. You may want to try a few items and start your recovery to financial health…Good luck
If you are going to try this (which I do recommend) here are some pointers to be mindful of:
1) Remember to use the “hand washable or delicate” feature on your washing machine and the “wrinkle free” feature on your dryers.
2) Hang dry garments or turn them inside out in efforts to protect the color of the fabric. If you can put them in the dryer then hang them ASAP to avoid wrinkles.
3) You will have to iron more since they are not going to the cleaners so it’s best to use the steam feature on your iron and try not to let the iron press directly on your garment. This also helps avoid any discoloration.
4) Men suits or wool fabrics may be a challenge depending on the style.
5) Avoid purchasing dry cleaning labels.
