Obama to workers: We'll help you save CNN/FILEI think it’s good to see President Obama and the government motivating the public to become disciples of both saving money and being long-term planners of their future. Seeing motivation for America to think of what shall be and not just what is, is in my eyes, a positive step forward. It is a move in the right direction because it is definitely the responsibility of those in power to provide incentives for the public to be as prudent and financially responsible as possible. And it is the public’s responsibility to not overlook the issue of the government’s saving and spending of its (our) money as well.  We must make sure that they are not being irresponsible with spending as much or even more than the same people they are trying to motivate to save. Budgeting $10 Everyday to Save Money

Let’s start by asking ourselves the question, how much money are we wasting every day?  Let’s look at a few common non-essential things many people spend roughly $10 dollars a day on: unnecessary shopping, Starbucks, eating out, premium cable channels, movies and/or extra cell phone minutes.  Now, if we are all honest with ourselves, we know that we do not need these items on a daily basis.  These are niceties!  However, if we continued to spend $10 a day on these types of things, that would cost us $300 a month.  And, if we spent $10 a day on two of these items it would be $600 a month.  I think we could all see that this behavior can add up very quickly and cost us big money over time.Save to Become a Millionaire in 20 years

Save More Money This Year

2010Every time we come to the end of a year we make the same ol’ New Year’s resolutions.  Stop smoking, spend more time with my family, lose weight…and one of the most popular resolutions is to save more money.  Once this New Year’s resolution is made, we begin to look for ways to save money, either from financial experts or maybe by searching top ten lists online.  We see things like… (more…)
